Chapter 847
Chapter 847:
Fernanda’s voice grew quieter as she continued, “The tears that little girl shed broke my heart. She was unable to finish her studies and had to drop out. She had to work to support her grandmother and her baby brother. Although they had lived…”
“In abject poverty, when her parents were still alive, at least they had been happy and together.”
Fernanda finally turned to Cristian. “The thug who killed her father was related to Jett. I’m quite sure Jett was involved in this somehow. They ruined the girl’s whole family. Many families might have been destroyed in Zenithium by these devils in human skin.”
This caused red-hot rage to bubble up within her. Her natural empathy made it impossible not to feel angry at such injustice.
Fernanda had helped pay off the tuition fees of that little girl and had deposited more money for the treatment of the girl’s grandmother.
However, this help could only go so far. It wasn’t permanent, and she had only been able to help one person, not everyone affected by the corrupt system. She couldn’t exceed her limits.
“It would be one thing if they were simply incapable of doing their job, but going out of their way to harm people is diabolical. They deserve to be punished!” Fernanda said, glaring back at the detention center.
“Yes, they deserve to be punished. The law will punish them,” Cristian said, nodding in agreement.
They would reap what they had sown.
Fernanda looked up again at the sky.
Wisps of clouds floated gently across the blue sky. The sun cast its warm glow over everything it touched in Zenithium.
It seemed to symbolize that light had finally overcome the darkness in Zenithium.

“Things will get better here,” Cristian said reassuringly.
“I hope so,” Fernanda nodded.
The change sweeping Zenithium from top to bottom shocked the entire country. Each day, the news was filled with stories of public officials being removed from their posts for corrupt practices.
Old case after old case was unearthed, each one more outrageous than the last.
The evil acts of these officials shocked everyone who heard about them.
Countless media outlets had gone to the mental hospital where Beckett was locked up, hoping to interview him, but had been denied entry.
It turned out that being locked up served as a form of protection for Beckett.
The new officials who had been appointed were known to be people of integrity. This sent a wave of relief through Fernanda. Cristian had been right after all.
Things did get better.
Fernanda could see the happy smile on Bonita’s face. Her whole body trembled with excitement as she watched the news of Jett’s arrest on her phone.
