His lackeys all nodded in agreement. They thought Andrew was afraid of the people who had defended Ritchie.
However, in his heart, Andrew knew that Ritchie was worth his respect.
It was soon the weekend, and Fernanda was preparing to go see Cristian when she ran into Rafael.
He was downstairs at her dorm and was clearly waiting for her.
Rafael had on a brown wool coat but was still shivering as it snowed for the first time that year in Esaham.
He immediately approached Fernanda when he saw her.
“Do you need something?” Fernanda asked.
“It’s about Ava,” Rafael said.
It had been a long time since Fernanda had heard that name. She had almost forgotten someone like that existed.
“Ava’s mental state has been poor lately. Could you let her come back?” Rafael asked.
Fernanda burst into laughter at his question. “She’s free to come and go as she pleases. I have nothing to do with that.”
“She can’t. She said someone is watching her and that she can’t go to the airport. She claimed she’s being monitored and that someone is following her. This is one of the causes of her mental decline.”
Fernanda finally understood what Rafael was hinting at. “You’re asking me if I sent someone to monitor her?” Rafael nodded.
“I have better things to do,” Fernanda said, her lips curling into a snarl.
Although she had mentioned sending Ava away and not letting her return for a few years, it had just been a passing remark. Did Rafael really think that she would waste time monitoring Ava? Ava wasn’t worth her energy.
“It wasn’t you? Then who else could it be?” Rafael asked, confused. “Ava’s really down in the dumps. She cried when she talked to me.”

“Let me stop you there,” Fernanda said, holding up her hand. “I’m not interested in what goes on between you two. I’m just letting you know that I’m not the one watching her.”
With that, she turned and started to walk away.
Rafael followed her and asked, “Could it be someone you know? Perhaps Mr. Harper or Mr. Reed?”
“You should ask them yourself,” Fernanda replied, her tone final.
The confusion on Rafael’s face showed that her suggestion wasn’t a plausible one. “I doubt they’d be interested in something as juvenile as that either,” Fernanda said.
Why would Cristian and Bobby do something like that? Fernanda believed that Ava was just being paranoid.
Although she had been rude and cold to Rafael and had expected him to get angry at her, he showed no sign of anger. Instead, he hung his head.
This was strange to Fernanda, as he seemed completely different from the arrogant young man she had met before.
