Chapter 872
Chapter 872:
A middle-aged man in his forties, dressed in a neatly pressed, thin down jacket with meticulously combed hair, exuded an air of refinement and restraint.
Beside him sat a young man, roughly Fernanda’s age. His features bore a striking resemblance to the older man, making it clear they were father and son.
The moment the middle-aged man saw her, he shot up from the sofa, his lips parting slightly, trembling with words he struggled to form. “Fernanda…”
She was the living portrait of Gracie and Robert, a perfect blend of their best traits. Her beauty was striking, her almond-shaped eyes—so hauntingly identical to Gracie’s—making Toby Cooper’s breath hitch.
Without hesitation, he strode toward her, clasping her shoulders. His eyes were rimmed with emotion he couldn’t suppress.
The resemblance between Fernanda and his sister was striking to Toby. Though Fernanda had no recollection of this man, she could feel the wave of sorrow and joy radiating off him. His emotions washed over her, unspoken yet deeply felt.
Her lips parted, and she murmured, “Uncle.”
Toby’s entire body trembled at the word. Without thinking, he pulled her into a tight embrace, his arms visibly shaking.
The young man beside them, unaccustomed to seeing his father in such a state, stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on Toby’s shoulder.
Toby wiped the corner of his eye and turned to Fernanda. “Fernanda, this is your cousin, Duran.”
Duran Cooper smiled at her—soft, unassuming. He carried the same cultivated grace as his father, exuding a warmth that was neither intrusive nor overbearing.
From the sofa, Erika rolled her eyes, barely concealing her disdain.
Just where had these poor relatives of Fernanda’s crawled out from? And what was the point of this sudden reunion?

Robert, meanwhile, extended a greeting with politeness that was distant at best, hardly enthusiastic.
Toby wasted no time explaining their visit. His mother—Fernanda’s grandmother—was gravely ill. As her final days approached, her one lingering wish was to see the only child of her daughter.
Selma sneered. “What’s the point of meeting with Fernanda? Your mother didn’t seem interested in meeting her for the past twenty years. But now, after Fernanda reunited with the Morgan family, she suddenly wants to meet her? Who knows what your true motives are. Seeking to climb the social ladder, perhaps?”
Selma had never hidden her contempt for those she deemed beneath her. From the moment Toby and Duran had walked in, she had sized them up with her shrewd little eyes, dismissing them as nobodies unworthy of her time.
Toby, unfazed by her venom, focused solely on Fernanda. “Would you be willing to see your grandmother, Fernanda?”
Without hesitation, Fernanda nodded. “I would.”
Her grandmother was the woman who had brought her mother into the world. Even if they had never met, the bond of blood ran deep.
