Chapter 977
Chapter 977:
“Everything’s settled now,” she said with a faint smile. “It’s all in the past.”
Terence leaned back slightly, studying her. “Handling something like that isn’t easy for someone your age,” he remarked. “I heard your father was forced out of Voligny Company. No one seems to know what he’s up to now.”
“That’s right.” Fernanda gave a small nod.
A knowing smile tugged at the corner of Terence’s lips. “You didn’t hold back with your parents. Quite ruthless.”
Fernanda met his gaze without hesitation. Her expression remained calm, her smile unshaken. “I wouldn’t call it ruthless. They sealed their own fate. They shouldn’t have committed unforgivable acts in the first place.”
Her words were sharp, her tone steady. Terence, nearly three decades older than her, found himself momentarily taken aback. There was something in her presence, something beyond her years.
She had a sharpness to her. A cold, unshakable strength. It wasn’t the kind of resilience that came from comfort but one forged in struggle. For a brief moment, admiration flickered in his eyes. Then, with a slight nod, Terence conceded, “You’re right.”
Just as he finished speaking, a sudden crash echoed from upstairs, followed by a sharp clatter. Pamela sprang to her feet and rushed toward the noise. Two minutes later, the indoor elevator chimed, and its doors slid open. A young man in a wheelchair emerged.
He looked to be in his early twenties, with a round face that made him seem younger than he was. His lower limbs were frail, likely from spending years confined to the chair. His hair was long in the front, falling over his eyes, giving him an air of secrecy. Fernanda immediately recognized the man as Nolan.
He was Cristian’s cousin—the one who had previously tried to sabotage him.
This was her first time seeing Nolan in person, and he wasn’t at all what she had imagined. She had pictured someone with sharp features and a thin, calculating expression. Instead, he had a round face and almost boyish features.
Nolan rolled his wheelchair forward until he was right in front of her. He studied her intently, then spoke in a low, measured tone. “So, you’re the girl Cristian’s been so taken with?”

At Nolan’s words, Haley was so stunned that she bolted upright from the sofa.
Terence’s eyes narrowed as he turned sharply toward Fernanda. Curran adjusted his reading glasses, looking confused by the statement.
After a brief silence, Curran was the first to speak. “Nolan, what are you talking about?”
Although Nolan was responding to Curran, his cold, unsettling gaze never left Fernanda’s face. His lips curled into a strange smile. “Grandpa, you’re busy trying to set Fernanda up with someone, but you have no idea she already has a boyfriend. And not just anyone—her boyfriend is Cristian.”
The revelation was so jarring that Curran’s hands trembled. The newspaper slipped from his grasp and fluttered to the floor.
