“That… that was an accident!” Curran straightened up, trying to look dignified. “Besides, blocking someone online isn’t a big deal. People do it all the time. It was just a joke.”
“Alright.” Fernanda gave a knowing nod.
Curran lowered his voice. “Since I’ve always treated you well, how about doing me a small favor? Over the next few days, whenever Ashley’s around, say some good things about me. Just casually slip them in.”
Fernanda tilted her head. “No problem.” She paused before adding, “In that case, I’ll let Ashley know about all the blind dates you’ve been setting up for me. By the way, who are these people? I haven’t even seen the list yet. Mind sending it over?”
Curran’s eyes widened in horror. Without hesitation, he clamped a hand over her mouth. “Fernanda, stop right there!”
She pulled his hand away, eyes sparkling with mischief. “Why? What’s the problem?” Holding back a grin, Fernanda kept a straight face. “I heard you went above and beyond to find the perfect match for me. That kind of effort takes real dedication. Ashley would be so impressed to know how much thought you put into my future.”
Curran waved his hands frantically. “No, no, no! That’s not necessary. Just keep that to yourself. There’s no reason to bring it up.”
Fernanda let out an exaggerated sigh, pretending to be let down. “If you insist. But does that mean I should still go on the blind dates?”
Curran tightened his jaw, saying nothing.
Fernanda tilted her head, eyes glinting. “Well, I’ll invite Ashley to come with me. What do you think?” As his expression turned to pure panic, she added with a teasing lilt, “She’s graceful, has an eye for quality, and never misses the finer details. With her by my side, I’d definitely make the right choice.”
“I’ll cancel them,” Curran blurted, sounding utterly drained. “Forget I ever planned them. Just don’t mention any of this to her.”
Fernanda let out a drawn-out sigh, shaking her head. “Such a pity.” Curran narrowed his eyes, wondering if she even believed her own words.

As they reached the parking lot, Curran wasted no time. “Don’t forget, Fernanda. Say good things about me. She really likes you now, and your words carry ten times the weight. You get what I’m saying?”
Fernanda gave a quick nod. “Loud and clear.” Curran finally looked satisfied.
The driver opened the car door, and Ashley stepped in first, with Fernanda following behind. Curran leaned down, about to say something, when Ashley cut him off with a cool command. “Shut the door.”
The door clicked shut before he could get another word in.
A gust of wind ruffled Bobby’s bangs as the sleek car pulled away, leaving behind only a trail of exhaust.
Curran squinted at the disappearing vehicle, letting out a long, heavy sigh.
