When would Ashley come back to him?

Bobby strolled up beside him, grinning as he twisted the knife a little deeper. “Grandpa, what did you say to Grandma just now? She looked pretty mad.”

Curran’s eye twitched. “Go home!”

He wasn’t the one asking the questions; he was the one getting grilled! Ashley had fired off a string of questions he had no way of answering.

“Curran, did you really interfere with Cristian’s company? Christmas is just around the corner. Can’t you let him have some peace for once? That business was built from the ground up with his own hands. He didn’t take a single penny from the Reed family, yet here you are throwing obstacles in his way. And as if that wasn’t enough, you won’t even let him have a relationship. Do you want him to stay alone for the rest of his life? Would that finally make you happy?”

Ashley crossed her arms, glaring at him. “And let’s talk about Fernanda. You’re out here setting her up on blind dates? You, of all people? Your own marriage has been a disaster, yet you think you’re qualified to play matchmaker? If you have so much free time, why not join a senior center? There are plenty of lonely old ladies there. Maybe then, you wouldn’t have so much energy to meddle in everyone else’s lives.”

Pausing for a moment, Ashley scoffed. “Let me be clear, if Fernanda ends up with someone else instead of Cristian, I will make sure you regret it for the rest of your life.” Her voice carried the weight of years of frustration. “Cristian had a rough childhood. He fought for everything he has. After all that struggle, he finally finds love, and what do you do? You try to rip it away from him. You’ve been hard on him since he was a child, always pushing him. You are really heartless! In fact, I should have someone report all the hardships you’ve caused him to the public.”

Curran replayed her words in his head and let out a deep, weary sigh. He muttered under his breath, “How can someone so beautiful have such a sharp tongue?”

Bobby, watching his grandfather’s pale face, already had a pretty good idea of how the conversation had gone. And honestly? It made him want to laugh.

Curran had been due for a reality check for a long time.

Leaning in, Bobby asked with a smirk, “Fernanda’s gone with Grandma now, so… what about the blind date?”

Curran’s temper flared instantly. He smacked Bobby on the head without hesitation. “There is no blind date! Don’t ever bring it up again!”

Bobby ran a hand through his hair, unfazed. Instead, a mischievous grin spread across his face.

Pulling out his phone, he quickly typed a message to Cristian. “Incredible! What exactly did you say to Grandma?”

Cristian’s response came almost immediately. “Nothing much. Just told her about how I’ve been doing lately.”

Bobby burst out laughing, nearly losing his balance as he flopped into the seat.
