Chapter 185
Chapter 185:
To Rosalie, Fraser’s concern now felt hollow.
She barely hid her revulsion, her annoyance evident. “Do you hope to find me harmed? Do I seem like someone who’s in distress?” Rosalie retorted sharply.
Fraser hurried to clarify, “I’m genuinely concerned about you, nothing more.”
Rosalie sneered, “I appreciate your concern, but it’s unnecessary. If you really want to help, please leave. Selena needs to rest.”
Fraser’s expression darkened, but he thought her mood was solely caused by the recent events, oblivious to her deeper feelings.
He exhaled, feigning hurt. “I see you’re upset, Rosalie. I’ll leave you to rest then. I’ll stop by in a few days.” With those words, he turned to depart.
However, as he passed Ashton, Fraser shot him a covert, chilling glance.
Without a word, his eyes issued a silent threat.
Ignoring whatever response Ashton might have had, Fraser exited the room.
Once Fraser had left, Ashton turned to Rosalie. Her face was clouded with seriousness, the weight of the truth settling in.
Ashton sympathized; realizing a trusted friend was merely a pretense would unsettle anyone.
They sat in silence until Ashton broke it, his voice firm. “Rosalie, you need to tread carefully around Fraser. He’s not someone to underestimate. And remember, I’m here if you run into any trouble. Don’t try to manage this on your own.”
Rosalie offered a small smile, her eyes meeting his. “Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. But you don’t need to baby me, okay?”
Ashton chuckled softly at her lighthearted response, feeling a sense of relief. It seemed she was starting to process the situation more positively.

Hospital rules allowed only one family member to remain in the patient’s room at a time. Selena’s condition wasn’t critical, fortunately. After examining her, Ashton prescribed medication to help stabilize her condition.
As he was leaving, his phone buzzed. It was Sheila on the other end.
Her voice was laced with concern. “I heard about the attack. Are you okay?”
“If I weren’t, would I be talking to you now?” Ashton responded, his tone edged with frost.
He knew Sheila wasn’t to blame, but her brother was deeply involved.
Ashton had explicitly told Sheila the day before to keep a close watch on Phillip for any suspect behavior. Nevertheless, he still almost encountered danger. Upon hearing the displeasure in Ashton’s voice, Sheila paused before speaking, her voice tinged with regret.
“I’m really sorry. I promised to monitor Phillip, yet he still managed to stir up trouble, nearly causing a disaster. I won’t make excuses for my oversight. I’m just asking for a chance to rectify my mistake!”
Sheila’s tone was thick with fear and desperation.
Ashton gave a slight smile. “What do you suggest?”
