Chapter 199
Chapter 199:
Rosalie didn’t pull away, though she felt unusually shy.
As Ashton cradled her foot in his large hands, a shiver of anticipation ran through her even before he began any treatment.
Concentrating on her foot, Ashton noticed the stark redness and swelling of her ankle.
It was visibly larger than normal, signifying an injury more serious than the sprain she suffered the last time.
After checking Rosalie’s condition, Ashton let out a sigh of relief. Her injury, though not minor, was within his ability to manage.
He glanced up at her. “We need to treat your sprain right away to prevent blood congestion, which could restrict your movement for weeks. I’m going to try acupressure massage. It might be a bit uncomfortable. Just hang in there, and if it becomes too much, tell me immediately.”
Without waiting for her response, Ashton began massaging her foot.
Rosalie’s heart pounded, but she held back her shyness as she bit her lip and nodded for him to proceed.
Despite having experienced this treatment before, the sensation caused by Ashton’s technique still sent shivers through her body.
It wasn’t discomfort as Ashton had warned, but an oddly soothing sensation, like a swarm of ants gently marching, bringing a tingling warmth that spread throughout her.
Despite her attempts to prepare mentally, soft moans still escaped her lips, though they seemed not to distract Ashton from his task.
Once he finished, Rosalie’s ankle swelling had subsided, and the peculiar yet pleasant feeling faded, leaving her a bit embarrassed by the intensity of her reactions. She avoided Ashton’s gaze, thanking him quietly. “Thank you, Ashton. I feel much better now.”

Ashton’s smile was gentle. “How do you manage to sprain your ankle so often? Maybe I should be in charge of all your future ankle injuries. Pay upfront, and I’ll give you a twenty percent discount.”
His tone was playful, and although Rosalie knew he was joking, she couldn’t help but blush when he mentioned being in charge of her future ankle injuries.
Frowning, she clarified, “It’s not that I was careless. Some gangsters just showed up at the construction site, demanding protection money. In the middle of the conflict, I was pushed and ended up twisting my ankle.”
As Rosalie recounted her ordeal, the smile vanished from Ashton’s face.
The collaboration between Skyline Group and the Campbell family was renowned in Inewood. Both entities were formidable. It was surprising that someone would dare disrupt their operations.
Ashton was about to delve deeper when a disturbance at the door caught their attention, accompanied by the sound of hurried footsteps.
Suddenly, the office door was flung open with a forceful kick.
A band of imposing gangsters, armed and dangerous, burst in. Upon seeing Rosalie, one of them peered outside and called, “Roger, we found the woman in charge of the project hiding here!”
