Chapter 200
Chapter 200:
A man then swaggered into the room.
Roger Webster, cigar clamped between his teeth, toyed with a butterfly knife. He paid no attention to Ashton and fixed his gaze on Rosalie.
“So, have you considered our offer?” he demanded. “We’re only asking for three million as a management fee. Pay up, and we guarantee your construction will run smoothly. If not, expect us daily, ready to play some funny games with your crew!”
Ashton scowled and warned, “This project is backed by Skyline Group. Think about the repercussions!”
Roger chuckled dismissively. “Skyline Group? We’re not scared of them! At most, we’ll spend a few days in jail for stirring up trouble. That doesn’t intimidate us. Jail is practically a second home for us! On the other hand, if you delay your project, the financial losses will soar beyond three million dollars! And trust me, I have plenty of guys ready to mess with you!”
Finishing his tirade, Roger’s gaze shifted to the man standing next to Rosalie.
With a curious tilt of his head, he asked, “Are you Ashton Baldwin?”
When Ashton heard his inquiry, he realized it was more intricate than he had anticipated.
If they were aware of his identity, it was clear they came prepared.
Indeed, Roger and his gang were here to wreak havoc under someone’s orders. They were well-informed about both Ashton and Rosalie. Their boldness in demanding steep fees was fueled by their affiliation with the notorious Axe Gang from another region.
They held no regard for Inewood’s criminal underworld. Furthermore, the person who had directed Roger to disrupt the project wielded significant influence. With such powerful backing, Roger was brash and fearless.
Confident in his patron’s support, Roger was eager to test Ashton and discover what skills he had that made him a target of his boss’s specific orders!

Seeing the malevolent expressions of the gang, Ashton’s face darkened with resolve.
Initially, he had believed that Rosalie’s injury was a mere accident. But now, with the true culprit standing before him and threatening with a brazen attitude, Ashton understood that this was no ordinary situation. He would not let this transgression go unpunished.
He leaned in and murmured to Rosalie, “I’ll handle this. Go outside and leave me to deal with them.”
Although she was well aware of Ashton’s formidable skills, Rosalie couldn’t shake her concern over the gang’s intimidating presence.
Yet, she remained composed, recognizing that her involvement could potentially be a hindrance.
After a brief moment of contemplation, she nodded. “Be careful. Avoid unnecessary confrontation. I’ll call the police. You try to buy some time.” With that, Rosalie exited the office.
Roger’s subordinates tried to obstruct Rosalie’s departure, but Roger waved them off dismissively.
