As if on cue, Ashton entered the room, his presence commanding yet understated.
Theo turned, his eyes narrowing as he took in Ashton, who had come alone.
A sneer curled on Theo’s lips.
“Rosalie, is this the guy you believe can solve your problem? He doesn’t exactly scream reliability. You said he’d bring people—so where are they?”
Ashton, having overheard the exchange, frowned but kept his composure.
“What does this have to do with you, Theo? Why the impatience? The workers I arranged are on their way and will be here shortly.”
With that, Ashton calmly sent a message to Liam, instructing him to bring the men over.
While this might not have been the perfect solution, it was the best he could manage under the circumstances. He decided to explain the situation to Rosalie later.
Theo let out a derisive laugh.
“Keep dreaming. Do you really think finding workers is that easy? Unless you’ve already got an established crew, where are you going to get so many people willing to do this dirty, backbreaking work? And besides, everyone knows this site has already drawn the attention of the underworld!”
He grinned smugly, acting as if he had just uncovered Ashton’s supposed deception, clearly relishing in the moment.
Rosalie began to contemplate. Although Ashton spoke with confidence, Theo’s concerns were not without merit. The Campbell family itself struggled to recruit enough workers for the project. How could Ashton, a single individual, gather so many people so quickly? Despite her internal reservations, Rosalie instinctively chose to trust Ashton and supported him.
With a composed demeanor, she told Theo, “Ashton has confirmed that his team is on the way, so there’s no need for you to worry about our operations. If you have no further business, please refrain from disrupting our work.”
Theo’s anger flared up. He believed that if Ashton had not interfered, Rosalie might have accepted his proposal. He retorted sharply, “Of course, I have business here! I want to see who is bold enough to undertake work on this construction site!”

Ashton responded with a calm smile, “And what gives you the courage to take on this project?”
Theo replied defiantly, “I command several construction crews, nearly a hundred men strong. Who else but me could possibly manage this project? With the workforce I have, I’m not concerned about any small-time gang leader from out of town. Not even the Black Dragon Gang would dare challenge me. If I were allowed to manage this, everything would be resolved smoothly. My cousin Rosalie, on the other hand, is jeopardizing the Campbell family’s reputation with her lack of authority.”
As Theo continued to vent his frustrations, Liam, having received a message from Ashton, arrived with his group just outside the office.
At that moment, Theo was facing away from the door, oblivious to their entrance.
The Campbell family members accompanying Theo quickly realized that the group gathered outside was the notorious Black Dragon Gang Theo had just referenced. They became anxious and tried to signal Theo to stop talking.
