Chapter 234
Chapter 234:
Jacoby had suddenly burst into the restaurant, flanked by a large group of people, causing a wave of shock to ripple through the diners.
He grinned with satisfaction at the panicked expressions that spread across the room. Everyone seemed to be trembling under his gaze—everyone except Ashton and Rosalie.
Their calm, unbothered demeanor stood in stark contrast to the fear that gripped the rest of the patrons, which sparked a flicker of irritation in Jacoby.
As an arrogant young man known for bullying others, he relished seeing people despairingly submit to him.
Yet here were Ashton and Rosalie, sitting defiantly, as if his presence was nothing more than a minor inconvenience. The nerve!
“Hey! You two—are you scared yet? Let me warn you, it’s too late for regrets now!” Jacoby threatened menacingly.
Ashton merely smiled, his expression calm and composed. He and Rosalie had anticipated this encounter and were more than ready to face whatever Jacoby had in store.
Without a hint of concern, Ashton replied, “Mr. Marquez, storming into a restaurant in broad daylight with a crowd of thugs and causing a scene is not exactly great for business. I imagine it wouldn’t reflect well on you if word got out.”
Jacoby’s eyebrows shot up, his pride pricked.
“So what? With my influence, even if I tore this little restaurant apart, they wouldn’t dare complain! Today, I’ll show you what happens when someone dares to cross me!”
His arrogance had its reasons.
Behind him stood a group of burly enforcers, their sheer presence sending many diners scurrying out the door without finishing their meals. Those who remained huddled in the corners, afraid to draw any attention to themselves.

But Jacoby’s bluster and the crowd’s fearful retreat were exactly what Ashton had anticipated.
He watched the scene unfold with an amused smile, completely unfazed by Jacoby’s threats.
“You’ve had your fun and vented your frustrations,” Ashton said, his voice as calm as ever. “If there’s nothing more, perhaps you should leave so we can continue our meal in peace. Thank you.”
Jacoby’s face flushed with rage, the veins in his temples throbbing with fury.
How dare Ashton speak to him like this? Even the most powerful families in Staville wouldn’t dare to treat him with such blatant disregard!
Feeling insulted, Jacoby slammed his fist onto the table, the sound reverberating through the restaurant as he pointed a trembling finger at Ashton, his voice laced with venom.
“How dare you talk to me like that? Do you really think I won’t kill you right here and now?”
The guards standing behind Jacoby growled in agreement, their menacing glares making it clear that they would gladly carry out Jacoby’s threat with just a single word from him.
