Spotting Vivian lurking in the background, Ashton instantly understood what she was planning.
Without hesitation, Ashton firmly urged Celia to leave right away. He quipped, “Young lady, I have no interest in you, so please refrain from bothering me any further. I appreciate your understanding.”
Ashton added, “And when you return, kindly pass along a message to Vivian. Let her know that her petty little schemes are dull and uninteresting to me. I’m done playing her games.”
Ashton’s remarks nearly pushed Celia to the brink of losing her temper.
Growing up, Celia had always been treated like royalty, indulged in every way, and she had never faced such outright rejection, especially after she had taken the first step.
The humiliation was unbearable, a sharp blow to her pride.
Just then, a man sporting a chunky gold chain and a pair of Gucci sunglasses walked by.
His eyes were immediately drawn to Celia, lighting up with recognition. He eagerly approached her, greeting her with enthusiasm, “Celia, what a surprise! I didn’t expect to see you at this event. I’m Duane Bailey, do you remember? We connected on social media about six months ago.”
Celia scrutinized him for a moment, recalling that he appeared to be from a relatively affluent family.
Celia had encountered many people like him before, so she wasn’t particularly interested. But after Ashton humiliated her, she needed someone to defend her pride.
Celia gave a dramatic nod, looking at Duane with an exaggerated pout. “Duane, you showed up at just the right time. That guy had the nerve to insult me like that. Teach him a lesson for me, and I will make sure to treat you to dinner another day as a thank you.”
The mention of dinner sent a rush of excitement through Duane, his mind racing with fantasies, especially with Celia in that one-piece swimsuit.

Eagerly, Duane nodded, and then turned to Ashton and called out, “You are in luck today! If you give Celia a sincere apology and show the right attitude, I might consider letting you off the hook for now.”
Ashton did not respond, not even sparing him a glance. Duane had intended to prove himself in front of Celia, but he was caught off guard by Ashton’s total indifference.
Although Celia remained silent, Duane felt a deep sense of embarrassment and humiliation.
Determined to reclaim his pride, Duane decided to skip any further words with Ashton. He rolled up his sleeves, ready to give him a harsh lesson.
But before anyone could react, Ashton, with barely a movement, subtly lifted his foot and effortlessly tripped Duane.
Not only did Duane miss Ashton with his swing, but he ended up sprawling on the beach in a ridiculous mess.
