Chapter 528:

Ashton calmly opened Jacoby’s cell and shoved Beal inside. He then casually pulled over a chair, sitting down to enjoy the unfolding drama of the brothers’ reunion.

Beal, now stripped of the arrogance he had worn when first brought in, glanced around uneasily.

He couldn’t fathom Ashton’s motive for this display, especially when Ashton already had the damning evidence of him hiring assassins.

The tension in the room thickened as Beal recalled the torment he had endured at Ashton’s hands. He had learned to be cautious, never underestimating Ashton’s unpredictability.

Despite being locked up, Beal refused to back down. His defiance flickered like a dying ember, but he clung to it. “Don’t think we’re scared just because you’ve thrown us together,” Beal spat, his voice thick with bravado. “In the end, who wins and loses is still up in the air. Until I see my lawyer, I have nothing to say to you!”

Upon seeing that Beal stubbornly refused to confess the truth, Ashton looked at him, squinting his eyes and smiling faintly.

Then, he said coldly, “Stop talking nonsense. I brought you both here today for only one reason—to tell me everything you know about Fraser and the Dark Night Organization. If you cooperate and confess everything you know, it can be regarded as meritorious service. I may consider reducing your sentence.”

Beal’s expression dramatically changed. “How… How do you know about the Dark Night Organization?”

Disbelief was written all over his face. But suddenly, his eyes widened as realization struck him. He glanced at Jacoby sitting in the cell, and his disbelief quickly shifted to suspicion. Jacoby noticed Beal’s gaze. He said in annoyance, “Why are you looking at me like that? Do you think I told him?”

Beal didn’t say anything. Instead, he turned to Ashton. His eyes narrowed as he studied Ashton’s expression carefully, searching for any sign that Ashton was deliberately driving a wedge between him and Jacoby.

Playing dumb, Beal said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. You won’t get anything from me about this so-called Dark Night Organization.”

Ashton shrugged and put on a resigned expression. “Don’t refuse so quickly. Hear my offer first and then think about it before you make a decision. That incident at the train station was a terrorist attack orchestrated by the people of the Dark Night Organization, right? From what I know, the person who almost succeeded in carrying out a terrorist attack that day wanted to use a toxic gas bomb. If he had succeeded, thousands of people at the station would have been in grave danger. You colluded with the people of the Dark Night Organization and caused such a serious incident. Even if you are not the mastermind, your involvement is enough to put you in jail for the rest of your life.”

Ashton’s words seemed to have pierced through Beal’s defenses. His expression changed again, and his eyes flickered with uncertainty.

Ashton caught the fleeting panic in Beal’s eyes. He took this opportunity to offer extremely tempting conditions.

“But now, there is an opportunity in front of you. As long as you give me useful information about the Dark Night Organization, I will reduce one year of your sentence for each piece of information provided. However, this opportunity is limited. For the same information, whichever of you provides it first will get the reward. You must grasp it.”
