Chapter 68
Chapter 68:
“Tristan,” Emily called as she walked toward me. She was just returning from work with Christian.
I wonder what happened to her car. I’m just not comfortable with the fact that they’re always together. What were they doing in the car during the whole ride? I wouldn’t have felt this way if I didn’t know what Christian’s intentions are, but now that I do, I have to guard my woman well.
“Hey,” I waved at her with a smile, and in the blink of an eye, she was already standing next to me, hugging me from the side.
This is new, but no worries.
“Hey,” I said to Christian, who had a glare on his face.
“Hi. Hope you’re good?” he asked with a straight face. This is definitely not a friendly greeting.
The tension building up around us was something I couldn’t explain. I really want her with us.
“Let’s go in and stop the whole staring, it’s becoming scary,” she said.
“I will be in my room,” Christian said, walking away after staring at our intertwined hands.
“Let’s go in then,” Emily said, the look on her face falling as she watched Christian leave without looking back.
I really hope I’m not losing her to him slowly. Or was his claim correct? Do they really have something together from the past, and have they rekindled their relationship, disguising it as work?
For the first time since I’ve known Emily, I’m curious about her past. I think it’s high time I learn about it.
“How have you been?” I asked as soon as we got to her room.

“Great, and work is going smoothly as well. I might leave anytime soon since the company is slowly getting back on its track,” she said.
“That’s great. I’m happy to hear that because we all missed you, especially your bunny.”
“I know right, I miss everyone too. I guess you have some news for me, I can’t wait to hear it,” she said, smiling with enthusiasm.
“Yes, our wedding preparations. Everyone in the pack and beyond is curious to know what date we’ll choose, and since we’re both busy, let’s discuss it now that we have a little chance.”
“Actually…” She stuttered, withdrawing her hand from my lap.
“Is everything okay?” I asked curiously.
“Tristan, about the wedding, the plans, and the date… I think I need a little space to breathe and think things through again.”
“Why? What’s there to think about? You were okay with the idea, so what happened now?”
“Nothing, actually. Just that.”
“I have a lot of things to tell you, mostly about my past, and also I have a lot of things I really want to do. I need to find out about myself. I need to know who my birth parents are and why I was abandoned when I was little. I also want to know why people see me as a cursed girl when I’m just an innocent girl who knows nothing.” She said.
