Chapter 987
Matthew was floored by what he had heard. After the incident with The Misfortune's Veil's assassins trying to ambush his family at the entrance of Silverbrook Village, he'd been terrified of danger.
Yet, Nicholas told Matthew that there was nothing but trouble ahead and that he'd be facing many threats every day as if the whole world was his enemy.
Matthew replied without a second thought, "Don't worry, Mr. Hanson. I'll make sure to do it as secretly as I can."
Right after saying that, Matthew recalled that Brad had seen him wearing this ring. Besides Brad, many others knew he wore the Juprus Ring as well.
The moment even one other person knew a secret, it was no longer one. Matthew felt like everyone practically knew it.
The thought of this sent chills down his spine. "You should have told me earlier about this ring, Mr. Hanson. It might land me in trouble, and my whole family could be in danger too."
Nicholas shook his head. "Being known as the wearer of the Juprus Ring wouldn't bring you danger. Only the strength of the reunited Juprus Order is terrifying. Its enemies will be restless over it, losing sleep and appetite. That's why bringing together the Juprus Order is a dangerous move."
Matthew crossed his arms. "I believe they will prefer nipping the risk in the bud. Killing the owner of the Juprus Ring will stop the Juprus Order from banding together."
Nicholas' gaze turned sharp. "A small group of people might think like that. They could come after you or even your family.
"But I'm still around. Who dares to even try? I'm just tied down by my vow, and it's not like I can't wield my weapon anymore."
Nicholas' usual laid-back demeanor was gone. All that was left was a dangerous and bloodthirsty presence. It felt as though the old man was gone, turning into a ferocious beast.
Matthew felt his skin crawl, gaping at Nicholas in shock. It was the first time he'd ever seen Nicholas in this state.
Nicholas was so dangerous. He was horrifyingly strong!
After the shock, Matthew's face lit up with relief. "Hearing that from you eases my mind, Mr. Hanson."
With Nicholas protecting his family, he didn't have to worry and could take on anything.
Nicholas nodded. "Even though I'm getting up there in age, I can still do the job like arrold guard dog. Just do what you need Don't need to worry about your family."
Matthew felt his spirit lift. "Thanks a lot."
Nicholas hummed in
acknowledgment. "Besides that, have five other apprentices. They didnt make it through my test, but they're still capable of helping you out
"Bring them on board to revive traditional medicine. Once that's sorted, you can focus on reuniting the Juprus Order."
Matthew beamed even brighter. If his seniors had the same skills as him, having them on his side would be like getting the wind at his back.
"I appreciate that, Mr. Hanson."
Nicholas waved his hand. "Don't act so formal. I've handed over everything to you. You're basically a younger version of me.
"The older me can die, but you have to stay alive because you're our hope. This is really nothing, so you don't need to thank me."
Matthew felt a bit out of place when he noticed how serious Nicholas was. The different side of Nicholas was unfamiliar to him but it also fired him up.
The entire thing felt strange to him. His mind was racing with thoughts, trying to adjust to the new side of Nicholas.
