Chapter 988

Matthew suddenly had a wild idea, thinking about the five seniors Nicholas had mentioned. "You told me the other five apprentices didn't complete their test, but I'm pretty sure no one came searching for the successors of Eight Medical Sects before me."

He just heard from Nicholas that they had failed their missions. When he went to collect the medical books and legacy items of the Eight Medical Sects, there was no trace of them. Something wasn't right.

Nicholas turned to Ansel. "Fill him in on it."

Ansel nodded and put a cup of coffee in front of Nicholas. "Enjoy your coffee. I'll talk to him about it."

Nicholas pointed at the table with his chin. Ansel understood right away and quietly put the coffee pot on the table where it was close to him.

Matthew watched the entire scene unfold. He was surprised to see Ansel show such respect to someone. He was even more curious about Nicholas' past and decided to find a chance to ask about it.

Ansel looked more neutral as he turned to Matthew. "Their tasks have nothing to do with the Eight Medical Sects."

Matthew was even more intrigued. "What's their mission then?"

Ansel chuckled. "The five apprentices have different missions. I'll start with an apprentice named Holger Polk, and his assignment is related to farming."

Matthew was taken aback. He was originally a farmer himself. Just the word "farming" from Ansel got him thinking about a lot of things.

Based on his missions, he couldn't help but ponder if farming involved sects too.

Matthew perked up right away, looking at Ansel and asking, "So, are there actually farming sects?"

Ansel replied with a grin, "Have you heard about the nine social classes?"

Matthew shook his head. He understood that people were ranked in a social hierarchy, but he didn't know the details exactly.

Smiling, Anser continued, "People

believe the god and creator stand above all. Then, the hierarchy is followed by

by the king, the officials the corporations, the enterprises, the businesses, the property owners, and the farmers."

Matthew's eyes lit up. "So does farming have eight sects as well?"

Ansel shook his head. "Farming isn't divided into sects. We have corn fields in the south and wheat fields in the north, whereas cattle and cows can be found further north. The farming industry is mamty determined by geography

"That's all I'll say for now. I'll send you Holger's info, and you can check them out on your own."

With that, Ansel pulled out his phone and texted Matthew right away. Then, he put it away and said, "I've given you the info. Do what you need to do with it."

Matthew didn't check his phone at all. "I need to take care of the successors of the Eight Medical Sects first. I want to integrate them all into the Harmona Sect."

After saying that, Matthew turned to Nicholas, wanting to see his reaction. The latter furrowed his brows, seemingly deep in thought. He stayed silent for a long while.

Ansel remarked, "You're essentially killing the remaining sects. Each of the Eight Medical Sects has its strengths, and together they form a diverse mix. If you merge them into one, does that set us back or move us forward?"

The issue Ansel raised was what Matthew was worried about. He felt it was important to ask Nicholas' opinion. "Do you feel the same way, Mr. Hanson?"

Nicholas looked solemn. "This is a huge deal. We're talking about the medical skills passed down for centuries or even millennia.

"But we can't just stick to the old ways. The decline of traditional medicine shows the current state isn't working.

"Like they always say, when you're stuck, change is the way forward. Adapting will open more doors for us. I've got your back. Go for it."

Matthew nodded. "I'm with you on that. But as give it a try, mistakes can happen; like how the other sects may vanish This is a huge responsibility. I'm worried I'll be blamed forever and become the disgrace of traditional medicine."

Nicholas shouted, "No one can see the future. All that matters is that you're in control of the present, so just get to it.

"If you make it happen, traditional medicine will thrive again. If it doesn't work out, at least you gave it your best shot. I'll take the heat for the blame and the bad reputation. It'll be my call, not yours."
