Chapter 715
Josefina's phone rang, the call coming from overseas. The voice on the other end wasn't speaking Chinese but a foreign language.
Switching to fluent English, she asked, "What's up?"
"I ran into Mr. Oliver on the street. He looks just like the photo you gave me. Someone was after him, so my crew and I stepped in to help."
"Good job. Dig around and find out who's gunning for him."
"Will do, boss."
After hanging up, Josefina couldn't shake her concern. She had no idea how Oliver was managing on his side of the world. A sudden business trip like his had to be for something major.
"I need to head out. Keep me posted on any updates," Josefina said.
Percy offered, "Let me give you a ride."
"No need, I came on my motorcycle."
Exiting the lab, Josefina rode for a while before pulling over to make a phone call. The call was quickly answered.
"Big brother, are you hanging out in the States?" Josefina greeted cheerfully.
"Little sister, you still remember me? I thought I was out of sight, out of mind for you."
Hearing the hint of melancholy in his voice, Josefina chuckled, "How could I forget? Big brother, you hold a special place in my heart."
"What's the call for, little sis? Need me to handle something?"
"Big brother, a friend of mine is in trouble in the States, being chased by some bad folks. Could you look out for him?"
Trusting in her brother's formidable skills, Josefina felt reassured.
"Must be someone important to you if you're calling me. Your boyfriend?"
Laughing, Josefina said, "Big brother, I'm swamped here. I'll send you his details. Take care."
After ending the call and sending the information, Josefina donned her helmet and rode off. Not for ahoad
får
she spotted a familiar figure
screaming, "Robbery! Help!"
Josefina sped up, snatching the stolen item from the robber. After a sharp turn, she tossed the bag back. Just as the thief attempted to flee, Josefina charged, delivering a chop toa vital point, immobilizing him.
The bystanders were stunned by her skills.
Joelle approached, her voice sweet as honey, "Hey, thanks a bunch. We'd be lost without you."
Josefina, about to remove her helmet, paused at Joelle's unexpected tone-it was her first time hearing her sound like that.
Haylee, clutching her backpack, gushed, "Thank you for getting my bag back. I'm so grateful."
As Josefina took off her helmet, revealing her striking features, Joelle stared in disbelief, unable to fathom that their savior was Josefina.
"Josie, it's you!" Haylee exclaimed.
Josefina, clad in black, nodded coolly, leaving Haylee star-struck.
"Josie, you're so cool! So awesome! Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome," Josefina replied.
Joelle looked somewhat disconcerted, having assumed the motorcyclist was a man, and was taken aback to discover it was Josefina.
Haylee, still buzzing, said, "Josie, your bike is so cool, so badass. I thought you were all sweet, but you're actually super cool!"
Josefina checked in, "You guys
